the wheel weaves as the author wills

At some point, several years ago, someone in my family did me the great favour of expanding my literature collection by purchasing for me three books from a series I had up until then, not heard of before. That series was The Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan. When I was first introduced, I received books 4, 5, and 6, so I didn't start it right away. I waited until I got the first three, and then, while really bored one xmas, started reading. Of course, it's a pretty decent little series, and I got sucked in fairly quickly... I had no idea what I was in for.

The series is now on Book Ten, and showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, the author has decided it would be best to stall us readers for book eleven by introducing a prequel. This, naturally, consists of a trilogy, but I wouldn't be surprised if this number magically increases.

I was with him right up until book six or so, when I figured, OK, it will be done by book nine; a trilogy of trilogies. No dice. Book Ten? A nice, even number? Nope. Now, I'm getting a bit weary of reading the series, which is really quite good but, so, so long that I'm beginning to lose patience.

In the autor bio, in the sleeve, it states, and I quote, "He has been writing since 1977 and plans to continue until they nail shut his coffin." When I read that, I had no idea that he meant to continue the same series that long.
