Blah

So all I’ve been up to lately is work, work, work; haven’t had a day off in almost two weeks. But I’m not going to talk about that.

Last week, Meghan found a deal on Futureshop for getting a cheap GameCube and Game Boy Player. I always swore I’d never buy that particular time/money waster, but here we are. There are actually quite a few decent games available for the platform, especially when you consider the library of Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance titles out there that don’t suck.

Currently we’re working on Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Metroid Prime. Zelda is fun and fairly challenging. I get my ass handed to me in Metroid; I guess I’m really rusty with the whole first-person-shooter thing. It’s pretty neat though, not your typical FPS shoot-everything-that-moves-or-shoots-at-you type game. You get these neat scanners in your helmet that you can use to collect information on just about everything in your environment. In many cases the scanning is even required, so I suppose you might call it a First Person Scanner. In fact, most of the time you have to scan the baddies to figure out how they like to be shot at. Neat stuff.

I’d really like to continue playing games, but no, I have to go to work today.

I’m almost important!

Well, things are sorting out nicely. My new job is going to be okay I think. I was chosen of the people hired to be the ‘full-time guy’ which I guess, makes me the head technician. That’s kinda cool. Just too bad about that schedule – looks like I work every day for the next little while.

I have a feeling that the ‘Work’ category here will take a definite shift in tone from bleak towards neutral and become much less frequent (I hope) but in the past it has been a great coping mechanism. Thanks for listening. Now I just need to find something else to talk about!

You can’t fire me because I quit!

Ha! I did it. I quit. Damn it felt good.

I didn’t get ‘the call’ from the other place yet, but I still do afternoons there, and at 33% increased wages, that’s enough to keep me going for now. I’m going to miss some of the nice people I used to work with, but whatcha gonna do?

Happy Birthday, Jen!

Today is my sister’s birthday. Too bad I couldn’t be there in London (Ontario) to celebrate. Stupid job.

D’oh!

Well, this is fun: I went to get in my car today and found quite a nice puddle of oil under it. When I say ‘puddle’ I mean a LAKE. I can’t see where it’s coming from. This sucks, I must have bottomed out hardcore on something.

Goes into the garage on Friday. I was thinking oilpan seal, or crankshaft seal, maybe at worst a headgasket, lower main seal; something like that. Then Meghan pointed out, “Maybe it’s a cracked engine block?” At first I had that awful ’sinking’ feeling in my gut, but then it hit me: if I need a new block, what better time for an upgrade? Oh yeah, time for a 3-litre swap baby. And if I’m doing that, I might as well get the full header-back exhaust done as well. And with all that reduced backpressure, I’ll need more air coming in too, so I guess it would be time for a revision to my intake system. Dreamspeed intake, plus a Rezlo-modified second throttle body (can’t find a link for that at the moment). By that point I should be well north of 200 wheel horsepower. Anyway, I guess I’ll stop rambling now.

Sparse, I know

Updates have been sparse, I know. Things have been kind of hectic lately. My job is continuing to make me more and more physically ill. Fuck, I hate it here. As I posted semi-recently, I thought I had another job but it turns out there was some competition. Now I don’t know. I was supposed to receive a call yesterday but obviously I didn’t get one, so I doesn’t look good. You know what? Fuck it. I think I’m going to have to quit this job anyway.

New Jorb

The last few weeks have been hell; living, stinking hell. It all started when I came home one lovely September Thursday evening to find out that my dog had been killed by an 18 wheeler, then on the Monday the shit hits the fan at work.

It was actually more like someone was using a food processor to grind a big pile of shit and I was the one in the little bowl under the blades. Yesterday burnt me out so completely that I called in sick this morning. Today, while playing on my computer here at home (what else am I going to do), I stumbled across an ad for a job opening I had been waiting for. Meghan sent me a posting for a technician job at a local computer chain.

So this afternoon, I applied for it. I know the owner/operator fairly well as I’ve been buying stuff there for quite a while. He interviewed me on the spot and I am to start on a trial basis tomorrow evening.

I guess I write my letter of resignation this evening…

Blah

Yeah, so, like Luke said, It’s been a slow month. Basically, I’ve been kind of busy and I have nothing to say anyway.

I’ll post again if something good comes up, or if I get really bored (what I wouldn’t do for that to even be possible right now).
