While after a crazy few months i’m finally leaving japan.
I went home to Canada for a month to see friends and family… and cause i already had the ticket. Then came back to Japan for 2 weeks and now im off to Australia.
I will update more from there. I leave in 2 days.

Well i’ve been in Japan.. waaayyy to long and i’m finally heading home. My flight arrives Oct 11th around 7 pm , after leaving Japan Oct 11 4pm. Go figure. I actually like the itinerary because i arrive in Chicago at 2pm .. 2 hrs before i left Japan.
I’m gonna stay with friends in Toronto (yay chris) and do my training with the tai chi school and the russians again, and ofcourse spend some time with the family. After its all said and done hopefully ill be off to Australia but I need to do a chest Xray for my visa because Japan is considered a “risky” country. One last kick in the face from Japan… man this country just keeps burning you.

Yeah i’ve pretty much neglected the crap out this page. Oh well… cest la vie.
Japan has been pretty simple for the past while though.. Surf, teach, surf , teach, surf, teach…. which is cool.
I’ve discovered this country to be the loneliest place on earth. Japanese people generally don’t talk to you because they are either to shy, don’t speak English, or just don’t like foreigners. Which was the opposite for most other Asian countries. In Thailand or Nepal they weren’t shy, didn’t care if they spoke English or not, and liked you because you were a foreigner.
So now i’m really looking forward to leaving the country. I can’t believe i stayed a whole year.. i guess its a testament to how much i needed the money, because i wouldn’t describe myself as happy.. or capable of being happy here. I just had to stick it out. But its all over in 3 more weeks.
Right now im on holidays.. paid holidays :).. and i leave for Niijima island for 4 days of surfing and sleeping on the beach. Should be a good little thing to do before i leave this place. Where to next… ???? Ill be home in Oct. sometime.

37 degrees with the humidity today..
Its like being back in Thailand except with humidity , which is actually worse because then even the shade is hot and sticky.
And I find once your mind is looking else where you cant think of anything else but leaving..
so..
surfing summer.. then outta here. Ill be home in the fall.
Havent posted in a while because uploading pics takes a lot of time.. and things that take a lot of time are unattractive to me. Esp.. when all that time is in front of the computer.
I’ve basically just been surfing every weekend and teach during the week. Its hot here now.. everyday is 23 - 29 degrees.. no humidity yet, but they say its coming. Surfing is awesome.. riding on moving walls of water is as amazing as it sounds.
Then Sens just lost too… but I think i won my hockey pool.. over $200.. sweet! Yet again gambling is good if you stick to what you know. I pretty much suck at poker… but betting on hockey and fighting seems to pay off. Im gonna buy a new (used) surf board. Surf Boards brand new are $400 - $1000 depending on what type or company.. and some even go up to $2000 which is ridiculous..
Ill take some pics at the beach soon enough.. Ill upload a few.. but uploading lots of pictues seems like a hassle .. i should find a better way to go about that.
Ill be down in Japan in 3 months.. coming home in fall.
I`m on 10 day road trip right now up Japan.
Right now im in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Spent the last 4 days driving up the coast and camping on beaches… but now its getting to cold and windy. Last night i almost got blown into the ocean..
Today is Sapporo Beer Factory … free beer .. and then driving more coast and hopefully staying in a hotspring tonight. Then more camping down the west coast of Japan and through Nagano back to home.

I found a 4 leaf clover!
I was by a river explaining to a Japanese friend that a 4 leaf clover is lucky and pretty much impossible to find.. and right when i finished saying it there was one right infront of my face. We looked around for more but that was the only one…

Ok I flew to Japan on the 17th of August last year. I signed a 1 year contract. At the end of the year i should get paied $1000 bonus.
* Whats actually happening.
They want me to stay and work until the end of August (31st).. or no bonus. Thats their IDEA of 1 year.
* The Problem.
1. I have a 1 YEAR ticket.. as in the day i left Toronto is the last day i can leave Japan. You can change this date to be earlier but NOT later. Its a 1 Year contract with the airline, and guess what!?!? It actually lasts 1 year!
2. The Japanese mindset does not bend rules. There is the IDEA of how to do something and thats it. Their IDEA of one year contract is Aug 17 06 - Aug 31 07.. and their IDEAs can’t be changed ever because there is only one way. An example of this i see every day … In Japan you can’t turn with traffic on a red light (like making a right on a red back home except here its a left). SO you see cars lined up waiting for nothing all the time , when its obvious they can just go and it would be completely safe and more efficient. But that goes against their IDEA of how to drive. Which is with your head all the way up your ass. Much like thier IDEA of a 1 year contract.
* The burn.
Now since its impossible for me to change my ticket i lose my bonus + August cause i can’t finish the month = $3000

* What i have going for me.
As a independent thinker and unattached any IDEA that is retarded and not beneficial for me in anyway. One day i’m here the next day i’m not… I can leave when ever I want. The purpose of a bonus is to get a person to finish their contract.. no bonus = no finish = F*#k you.
Life goes on.
This weekend it was 26 degrees… if it stays like that.. surfing is not far away.
