Another weekend, awesome. Hanging out with Derek, Thom and Matt hopefully. Should be cool. Still got really nothing cool to say. The work week was good, played a lot with PHP, Oracle and Ruby. Oracle pisses me off - I’m used to doing all the DBA tasks with it and haven’t really done any application development till now, and man does it suck. But I’ll get into that another time.
Note: If you’re looking for the sound clips for Taco Flavored Kisses, go to the South Park Studios page.

I have nothing to say, things are pretty normal. Why post then? Eh, why not.
Work is alright, nothing like working for a .com company. Listening to a lot of Less Than Jake and Tenacious D lately. Watched an awesome movie called Impostor, which originally came from Phillip K. Dick book. Read a bunch of books, found a new author named Ken MacLeod that’s extremely similiar in style to Alastair Reynolds.
Yeah that’s it. I’ll post more when anything cool actually happens.

Robin sums up the movie quite nicely - him, Matt and I went to see this on Saturday. Man, it sucked. It was so, so bad. There was maybe 20 minutes of humor and the rest was just utter crap. Don’t see it. Please.

How’s this for a fashion statement? I have no idea how I came about this one, but it kicks a lot of ass.

My laptop at work totally broke today. It all started when some security jerk at O’Hare airport took it from me and dropped it on the cement floor (instantly breaking the DVD drive). So in the two months since then, everything was working, except for one of the monitor hinges busted - no big deal.
‘Till today. When the other monitor hinge broke. Now it looks like a tablet PC, all flayed open and sickly. Goddamnit. To top things off, our network support guy gave me a replacement - with a busted monitor as well! Fuck, I just can’ t win.

I love the fact that flammable and inflammable mean the same thing.

Okay, what the fuck is this? This is the “cool new phone” from the latest Matrix. Hello???? This thing looks like a goddamned brick phone from the 80’s! What asshole marketing team decided this was hip?
Honestly, things like this make me just want to cry.
Even the first movie’s phones looked way cooler. Come on. Am I alone on this one? Who would actually be seen with this? (Okay, I can think of one or two people, and they’ll probably comment here.)
I know it seems like I’m picking on this movie a lot, but this really is just unexplicable. This phone reminds of those two assholes in Night at the Roxbury.
If you really want more information on this crime against nature, go to the official super hip-phat-cool site.

Well, the previous problem with the comments has been fixed… sorta. The database on the site was corrupted - specifically the last 20 or so comments, so those have now dissapeared into the void. It sucks, but hey, that’s life. I guess we’ll just have to make up for the loss with even more ass jokes.
For the record, if this happens to your Movable Type site just export and import the comments.db file using the command-line tools that come with the Berkeley DB distribution.

I screwed something with the site up, so comments are temporarily disabled. There’s something really messed with the way MovableType tries to load the comments - it chews up all the system RAM and CPU. I’ll post more when (or if) I solve the problem.
